.Coming Up
In the coming months Guest Speakers will include a speaker from the Destiny House, a program to empower women in today’s age, a speaker from NBN Company, now that the NBN is being rolled out in Medowie to explain and advise of possible scams for older residents, and a speaker from Trade Travel, an Probus South Pacific endorsed travel agency. Past speakers included Phil Murray, the son of the legendary “Gelignite” Jack Murray, and he spoke about his father’s feats, escapades and notoriety; Alison Stewart from the local Police Area Command who spoke about things mature residents should be aware of, to protect themselves and their property; and John Magan from Radio 2NUR, who spoke of his introduction to radio and the changing requirements to meet public satisfaction.
There are regular lunch time get-togethers, called “Munchies”, at a local eating establishment where members meet, have lunch and partake in the friendly chatter while enjoying a pleasant lunch.
The Club also has 2 regular functions, the Club Birthday Party, around July each year to celebrate the founding of the Club on 9 July 2003; and a Christmas Party, usually towards the latter part of November, being mindful of the commitments members have with other groups who have functions in December.
The Club also provides a monthly Newsletter which is emailed to those members who have an email address and is also available at the Sign-In table when attending meetings. A copy of the Probus South Pacific Magazine, Active Retirees is also available when received from PSPL, usually each 2nd month..
