Proposed Roundabout for Peppertree / Ferodale Roads
After many meetings and discussions, Cr Geoff Dingle reports that "Council staff are now pursuing alternate options".
Thanks to everyone who has lobbied for common sense to prevail.
The need for a "rethink" was reported in the Examiner: 27-Apr-12
Let's hope that Plan-B is presented to the Medowie Community for consideration BEFORE it is signed off, in line with Council's Community Engagement Policy, which states:
Given that EVERY Medowie resident will be "affected" by the proposed roundabout decision, the Medowie community should expect that Plan-B is put on public exhibition for all to comment on.
If you would like to comment on what has been proposed, please email Council's General Manager at council@portstephens.nsw.gov.au (feel free to copy in towncentre@medowie.nsw.au ) or submit via Contact Us.
The following diagram depicts the final draft design for Medowie's Town Centre. The MPA has concerns that a Traffic Study is scheduled AFTER the proposed design has been implemented, and that the proposal does not adequately cater for existing levels of traffic, let alone the increased traffic that will come with the Woolworths development.
The above design:
- provides no through traffic lanes along Ferodale Rd.
- has a low level mountable roundabout.
- with a single lane only forcing any through traffic to bank immediately behind vehicles choosing to turn right into Peppertree.
- no right turn into the exiting shopping centre car park entrance (Newsagency) forcing all vehicles to travel to the Kirrang roundabout and return to turn left only.
- no right turn out of Medowie community centre car park forcing all traffic to the already congested roundabout at Peppertree to circumnavigate and return to Medowie Rd.
Compare this to the Medowie Strategy - TCD unanimously adopted by Council in Mar 2009.
